Does Illinois require that any amount of fieldwork...
Alison Jones

Hi, all.

Does Illinois require that a certain number of fieldwork hours, or any amount of fieldwork hours, be completed while pursuing a relevant degree to qualify for future licensing in Illinois?

An advisor at Purdue Global has raised this question, and I don't know the answer.

Context: I'm about halfway through an MS in ABA but am not currently working in the field. My background is in elder care and I hope to find a way to accrue hours in a behavioral gerontology practice area. I'm realistic, however, that I may need to start working in the more prevalent client demographic/demand or otherwise find initial opportunities in other demographics. I have contacted various ABA partner providers in my area of Chicago to transition to ABA-related employment.

Does anyone have any input about Illinois requirements for fieldwork during degree work? Thank you very much. - Alison

Hi there,

IL does not require any additional fieldwork hours. If you qualify for the BCBA credential, you would qualify for IL licensure.
