During the Spring of 2017 legislative session, Rep. Dan Brady filed House Bill 1970 (link does not need to be included) as Chief Sponsor. After being referred to the Healthcare Licenses Committee, Reps. Keith Wheeler, Stephanie Kifowit, and Grant Wehrli joined as co-sponsors. However, significant work was still needed, and the Legislative Committee continued to meet resistance from the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. 

Following this, the Legislative Committee further engaged with APBA and other state chapters to learn as much as they could about how to navigate this process more successfully. Ultimately, it was determined that they needed to engage a lobbyist to make further progress with the bill.
